Water Security: Arkab Stresses Proactive Maintenance at El Tarf Desalination Plant Ahead of Peak Season

​El Tarf – The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining, Mohamed Arkab, conducted a field inspection on Wednesday at the Koudiet Eddraouch seawater desalination plant in El Tarf province to monitor the operations of this strategic facility.​During the visit, the Minister of State reviewed the overall status of the plant following the completion of scheduled preventive maintenance. The facility has officially resumed service at its full production capacity of 300,000 cubic meters per day, ensuring a steady supply of drinking water for the provinces of El Tarf and Annaba.​Technical Challenges Managed​The Minister was briefed on the technical interventions that occurred after a minor malfunction was detected during the restart phase. Expert technical teams managed the issue immediately, following strict safety standards to ensure the plant’s long-term integrity.​The Algerian Desalination Company (AEC) clarified that such technical glitches are common following comprehensive maintenance overhauls.
