Algeria’s Army Magazine dedicated the editorial of its 753rd edition to commemorating the legacy of late former President Liamine Zéroual, who passed away in late March at the age of 85, reaffirming that Algeria will forever stand as a distinguished model of national unity and cohesion.
Under the title ‘Men Pass, Their Legacy Endures’, the editorial highlighted Zéroual’s lifelong dedication to Algeria, noting that he joined the liberation revolution at just 16 years old, later serving as Defense Minister, ambassador, and ultimately President during one of the nation’s darkest periods — navigating Algeria away from collapse with wisdom and resolve.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, speaking exclusively to dzwatch, described Zéroual as ‘a true Algerian — honest, patriotic, who never deceived anyone at any stage, and who showed great compassion for ordinary people.’
The editorial stressed that Algeria’s current sensitive regional and international climate demands stronger national unity, a solid internal front, and unwavering commitment to the nation’s supreme interest — values embodied by Zéroual’s enduring legacy.
