Pope Leo XIV touched down at Rabah Bitat International Airport in Annaba on Tuesday, marking the second day of his official state visit to Algeria, held at the personal invitation of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The pontiff received a formal welcome overseen by Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf, alongside senior civil and military authorities of Annaba province.
Pope Leo XIV greeted officials warmly upon arrival at the grounds of the Saint Augustine Basilica, where he was welcomed with great ceremony befitting his historic visit.
The airport’s VIP hall also featured a heartwarming reception by young children from Annaba, who gave the Pope an enthusiastic popular welcome reflecting the warm sentiments of the Algerian people toward this landmark visit.
