Algeria’s Director General of National Security, Ali Badawi, held a high-level working session Thursday with the President of the German Federal Police, Dieter Roman, who is currently on an official visit to Algiers.
Speaking exclusively to dzwatch, Badawi described the meeting as “a distinguished opportunity to consolidate the foundations and principles of joint work, ensuring continued coordination to strengthen bilateral police cooperation across all matters of shared interest.”
Badawi emphasized that countering cross-border security threats “requires combined efforts and optimal readiness from law enforcement agencies, alongside updating and developing counter-mechanisms in line with both traditional and emerging crime patterns — particularly migrant smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal immigration.”
He highlighted Algeria’s comprehensive approach to combating these phenomena, built on “proactive and forward-looking dimensions in which the police play a central role.”
For his part, Dieter Roman told dzwatch that “the international and regional geopolitical situation demands closer cooperation between our two countries now more than ever,” citing illegal immigration, smuggling networks, document forgery, and the pursuit of wanted persons as priority areas. He also stressed the importance of elevating future cooperation in aviation security and major event management through shared expertise.
