Algeria’s metro operating company SIMA has officially launched its new digital application ‘El Metro’, marking a major step in the state’s sweeping digitalization strategy across public service sectors.
The launch follows directives from Minister of Interior, Local Communities and Transport, Saïd Saâoud, aimed at modernizing public infrastructure and elevating service quality for citizens.
The app enables commuters to purchase tickets and subscriptions directly from their smartphones, while integrated QR Code technology allows seamless electronic ticketing — eliminating waiting lines and saving valuable time.
SIMA told dzwatch that the application is now available for download on the Google Play Store, urging all metro users to take advantage of its fast, easy, and secure digital services.
The move reflects Algeria’s accelerating shift toward a fully modernized urban transport ecosystem and a broader digital transformation of public services.
