Algeria’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks Saturday in Antalya with the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd, on the sidelines of the second day of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
Both sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Algeria and the CTBTO, and discussed the growing challenges facing global disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation efforts.
The two officials explored ways to strengthen broader African continental engagement in CTBTO-led cooperation activities — rooted in Algeria’s firm commitment to international law and shaped by its painful experience with the lasting consequences of French nuclear testing on Algerian soil.
