Algeria’s Ministry of Justice, in cooperation with the Higher School of Judiciary, organized a landmark study day on the theme ‘The National Judge, Human Rights, and Algeria’s International Obligations’ at the Higher School of Judiciary in Koléa.
The event brought together public prosecutors, investigating judges, and criminal court judges, addressing key topics including international human rights protection mechanisms at African and Arab levels, fair trial principles, and respect for human rights within penal institutions.
Officials told dzwatch that the study day aims to strengthen judges’ capacity to apply international conventions as legal sources under the 2020 constitutional amendment, and to align judicial practices with UN standards and national law.
This initiative reflects Algeria’s unwavering commitment to promoting human rights and ensuring its judiciary meets the highest international standards of justice and rule of law.
