The Italian frigate ‘Virginio Fasan’ docked Tuesday at the Port of Algiers for a three-day stopover, marking a significant milestone in Algeria’s bilateral military cooperation framework with NATO.
During the visit, the mission commander and accompanying delegation held a courtesy meeting with the commander of the Central Naval Front at the Algiers Naval Base, where discussions focused on elevating bilateral cooperation and strengthening expertise exchange between the Algerian and Italian navies.
A PASSEX-type naval exercise is set to be conducted, enabling both navies to share field-acquired maritime knowledge. The stopover program also includes cultural and tourism activities for the Italian frigate’s crew members.
