Algerian Minister of Health Mohamed Seddik Aït Moussa received his Chadian counterpart, Minister of Public Health and Prevention Abdelmajid Abderrahim Mahamat, in Algiers on Tuesday, as part of the Fourth Session of the Algerian-Chadian Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
The meeting, focused on strengthening bilateral health cooperation, reaffirmed the deep brotherly and historical ties between Algeria and Chad, with both ministers expressing shared determination to expand cooperation in the health sector.
Both sides reviewed the state of their respective health systems and discussed mechanisms for Algeria to support Chad’s healthcare infrastructure, particularly in disease prevention, epidemiological surveillance, and elimination of communicable diseases.
The two ministers agreed to sign a cooperation agreement covering medical expertise exchange, capacity-building for health personnel, hospital administration, telemedicine, and institutional twinning between health facilities in both countries.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to translate all agreements into concrete action programs, elevating bilateral cooperation to a sustainable strategic health partnership built on solidarity and mutual interest.
