Algeria Issues Severe Weather Alert: Thunderstorms, Strong Winds and Sandstorms Hit Multiple Provinces

Algeria’s National Meteorological Office has issued an urgent weather alert warning of heavy thunderstorms, powerful winds, and intense sandstorms sweeping across multiple wilayas nationwide.

According to the alert obtained exclusively by dzwatch, significant thunderstorm activity is expected to begin at 3:00 PM and continue through midnight, affecting the wilayas of Tébessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Khenchela, Batna, Mila, Biskra, Sétif, Bordj Bou Arréridj, M’Sila, Bouira, Médéa, Djelfa, Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Saïda, Sidi Bel Abbès, Tlemcen, Illizi, Djanet, and Tamanrasset.

Additionally, strong winds accompanied by dense sand and dust storms are forecast from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM Wednesday, particularly impacting the southern wilayas of Illizi, Djanet, and Tamanrasset.

Authorities urge citizens across affected regions to take necessary precautions and avoid unnecessary travel during peak alert hours.
