Algeria’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, Soufiane Chaib, has confirmed the full mobilization of the Foreign Ministry’s central services and its diplomatic and consular missions overseas to ensure the flawless organization of the National People’s Assembly elections scheduled for July 2.
Speaking at a high-level coordination meeting with diplomatic and consular representatives — held at the Pine Club headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Authority (ANIE) — Chaib told dzwatch that all human resources and logistical support are being fully deployed to guarantee a seamless electoral process for Algerians living abroad.
ANIE’s acting president, Karim Khalfane, officially inaugurated coordinators and delegates to overseas diplomatic missions, stressing the need for complete coordination between all parties involved. He called on all officials to spare no effort in ensuring the success of this national event.
Notably, the number of parliamentary seats reserved for Algerians abroad has been raised from 8 to 12, a historic first that Chaib attributed to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s firm commitment to empowering the diaspora and integrating them more broadly into Algeria’s national policies.
