Algeria and Chad have expressed complete satisfaction over the quality of their bilateral relations, reaffirming their shared determination to give them new momentum, in a landmark joint statement exclusively obtained by dzwatch following Chad’s President Marshal Mohamed Idriss Déby Itno’s official state visit to Algiers from April 22-24, 2026.
The two heads of state held one-on-one talks followed by an expanded working session, before jointly presiding over the signing ceremony of 28 agreements and memoranda of understanding within the framework of the Fourth Session of the Algerian-Chadian Joint Commission.
Both presidents reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening peace, stability, and sustainable development, pledging deeper cooperation in combating terrorism, violent extremism, and cross-border crime, while upholding state sovereignty and non-interference principles.
On the economic front, leaders agreed to advance partnerships in energy, mining, renewable energy, and transport, encouraging structural partnerships between companies in both countries. The Algerian-Chadian Business Council was activated to boost trade and investment.
Infrastructure milestones were also celebrated, including the launch of the Algiers-N’Djamena air route and renewed commitment to the Trans-Saharan Highway as a key driver of regional integration.
