India’s Ambassador Hails Algeria as ‘Gateway to Africa and Europe’, Urges Indian Investors to Tap Algerian Market

India’s Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, has lavished praise on the depth and quality of the Algerian-Indian partnership, highlighting the remarkable progress both nations have achieved across multiple sectors.

Speaking exclusively to dzwatch ahead of the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit, scheduled in New Delhi from May 28-31, the ambassador declared: “Algeria is an essential partner for us, both within the African Union and the Global South framework — it is a true gateway to Africa and Europe.”

Kulkarni urged Indian business operators to invest in Algeria and forge strong partnerships with Algerian enterprises, citing the country’s favorable business climate. She notably pointed out that 250 out of 650 pharmaceutical units active across Africa are based in Algeria.

The summit, themed ‘Spirit of AI: India-Africa Strategic Partnership for Innovation, Resilience and Inclusive Transformation’, will conclude with the landmark ‘New Delhi Declaration’, outlining key cooperation frameworks between India and Africa.

“We hope for strong African participation — especially from Algeria,” the ambassador told dzwatch, adding that India and Africa share deep historical bonds of solidarity and common aspirations.
