Djezzy Becomes Algeria’s First Operator to Launch VoLTE Service

Djezzy has officially launched its VoLTE (Voice over LTE) service, becoming the first telecom operator in Algeria to offer voice calls over 4G and 5G networks, following regulatory approval from the Postal and Electronic Communications Authority.

In an exclusive statement to dzwatch, Djezzy described the launch as a landmark step in the evolution of mobile communications, positioning the operator at the forefront of innovation in Algeria’s telecom sector.

VoLTE technology enables calls directly over 4G/5G networks, eliminating fallback to 2G or 3G. Users benefit from HD voice quality, faster call setup, and greater connection stability — all while maintaining high-speed internet access for browsing, downloads, and apps simultaneously.

The service is offered free of charge and will roll out gradually to customers with compatible smartphones and 4G/5G-enabled SIM cards. It also contributes to smarter battery management on devices.

With this launch, Djezzy reaffirms its commitment to modernizing its network and delivering a seamless mobile experience aligned with international standards.
