Algeria’s Oil Exports to France Surge Nearly 225% in April 2026

Algeria’s crude oil and petroleum product exports to France recorded a sharp increase in April 2026, rising by approximately 96,000 barrels per day compared to March, representing a month-on-month growth of nearly 225 percent.

According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), headquartered in Washington, France’s seaborne imports of Algerian crude oil and petroleum products reached around 138,000 barrels per day in April, up from just 43,000 barrels per day in March 2026.

On a year-on-year basis, Algeria’s exports to France rose by 14 percent, equivalent to an increase of approximately 17,000 barrels per day compared to April 2025, when flows stood at 121,000 barrels per day.

Looking at overall performance since the beginning of the year, EIA data shows a modest improvement of 3.4 percent in Algerian exports to France during the first four months of 2026. The average flow over that period reached 95,000 barrels per day, compared with 92,000 barrels per day during the same period in 2025.

Flows were notably volatile throughout this period, ranging from a low of 53,000 barrels per day in January to a high of 146,000 barrels per day in February, before dropping sharply to 43,000 barrels per day in March, then rebounding strongly in April.

Meanwhile, Algeria’s total oil exports across all destinations climbed to 903,000 barrels per day in April 2026, reflecting a month-on-month increase of 27 percent.
