According to the same source, the “Stability and Reform Parties” coalition has decided to nominate the president of the Republican National Alliance party, Belkacem Sahli, as a consensus candidate on behalf of the coalition for the upcoming presidential elections.
Earlier, the president of the Union for Change and Progress party, Zoubida Assoul, had announced her candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections.
Following a high-level meeting attended by senior state officials on March 21st, it was announced that pre-presidential elections would be held on September 7th, with the electoral body being summoned on June 8th for purely technical reasons, as stated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune earlier.
