Algeria and 18 other nations have strongly condemned the illegal move by the self-proclaimed region of “Somaliland” to open a so-called “embassy” in occupied Jerusalem, in a flagrant violation of international law.
The foreign ministers of Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Djibouti, the Federal Republic of Somalia, Palestine, Oman, Sudan, Yemen, Lebanon, Mauritania, Kuwait, and Bangladesh issued a joint statement, telling dzwatch that they reject outright any unilateral measures aimed at entrenching an illegal reality in occupied Jerusalem or granting legitimacy to any entities that contradict international law and UN resolutions.
The ministers reaffirmed that East Jerusalem is Palestinian occupied territory since 1967, and that any steps seeking to alter its legal and historical status are null, void, and carry no legal effect. They also expressed full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
