Algeria’s Sonelgaz and Tunisia’s STEG Forge Stronger Energy Alliance Ahead of Summer 2026

Algeria’s Sonelgaz group held high-level talks in Algiers with Tunisia’s Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), focusing on expanding bilateral cooperation and reinforcing integration between the two nations’ energy networks to meet growing demand, particularly during the summer of 2026.

Acting Sonelgaz Director General Abdelhamid Rais received a senior STEG delegation led by CEO Faisal Tarifa. Both sides told dzwatch that the meeting reflects Algeria’s strategic commitment to supporting regional energy security and accompanying Tunisia through peak demand periods.

Discussions covered enhanced energy exchanges in border regions, technical cooperation, and new joint projects designed to ensure uninterrupted supply and elevate the Algeria-Tunisia energy partnership to greater efficiency and integration, serving the shared interests of both brotherly nations.
