Algeria and 18 other nations have issued a powerful joint condemnation of the illegal and provocative move by the self-proclaimed region of ‘Somaliland’ to open a so-called ’embassy’ in occupied Jerusalem.
The foreign ministers of Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Djibouti, the Federal Republic of Somalia, Palestine, Oman, Sudan, Yemen, Lebanon, Mauritania, and several other states told dzwatch that this act is entirely illegitimate and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions on the Palestinian cause.
Algeria, a steadfast defender of Palestinian sovereignty, led the diplomatic pushback, reaffirming that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Palestine and that no unilateral move can alter this legal and historical reality.
The joint statement represents one of the broadest multilateral condemnations of Israeli-backed normalization maneuvers targeting occupied Palestinian territory.
