Algeria’s National Meteorological Office has issued a Level-2 weather alert, warning of intense thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across several wilayas, dzwatch can confirm.
According to the bulletin, expected rainfall totals range between 20 and 40mm, with localized amounts potentially reaching 50mm in the wilayas of Illizi and Djanet.
The alert remains in effect until midday this Friday.
Meteorologists also told dzwatch that active thunderstorm cells are forming over the wilayas of Bordj Bou Arréridj, Sétif, Batna, Khenchela, and Tébessa, urging residents to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours.
