Algeria has formally submitted a draft resolution to the Security Council recommending the General Assembly’s acceptance of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations. This move, symbolically marked by the color blue, signifies the final step before the resolution proceeds to a vote among the Council members.

According to Algeria’s official news agency, APS, this submission is the culmination of extensive diplomatic efforts led by the Algerian government under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives. These efforts aim to gather as much support as possible to secure Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.

This strategic diplomatic maneuver reflects Algeria’s ongoing commitment to supporting Palestinian statehood, aligning with its historical stance on advocating for the rights and recognition of Palestinian sovereignty on the international stage.
