The National Independent Electoral Authority (ANIE) has issued a crucial reminder to candidate lists facing the rejection of one or more applicants regarding the upcoming legislative elections on July 2nd. ANIE emphasized that upon notification of a rejection decision, these lists must promptly submit replacement candidate applications to ensure timely examination and processing within legal deadlines.

The authority clarified that this procedure accounts for the status of a rejected candidate when an appeal is filed within the statutory three-day period following the rejection notification. ANIE explained that if the appellate administrative court rules in favor of the initially rejected candidate, they will be reinstated to the candidate list, rendering the replacement application void. Conversely, should the administrative jurisdiction uphold the rejection decision, the rejected candidate will be officially substituted by the replacement applicant, provided their application has been validated.
ANIE further highlighted that the submission of replacement candidacies can continue up to 25 days prior to the election date. Consequently, the final deadline for submitting a substitute candidacy has been set for June 6, 2026.
