Illizi Province in southeastern Algeria has achieved a significant environmental milestone, with over 29,200 forest and ornamental shrubs successfully planted during the 2025-2026 reforestation campaign. The latest planting figures represent a notable surge compared to the previous 2024-2025 season, which saw 9,899 shrubs put into the ground. Operations for the current season were strategically distributed among Illizi's four communes.
Illizi reforestation
The capital city of Illizi led with 10,372 shrubs, followed by In-Amenas with 8,600. This extensive reforestation drive is a key component of Algeria's broader strategy to expand green spaces, enhance local environments, and improve the urban landscape for its citizens.
