Mascara Security Forces Bust Organized Drug Ring, Recovering 38.5kg of Cannabis

Algerian security forces in Mascara province have delivered a significant blow to organized crime, successfully dismantling a sophisticated network specializing in the illicit trafficking of drugs. The operation led to the seizure of more than 38 kilograms of processed cannabis and the arrest of two key members.

The Search and Intervention Brigade (BRI) of Mascara’s provincial security spearheaded the initiative. Investigators tracked the criminal enterprise, which was known to operate from the western regions of the country, meticulously identifying its operational methods and logistical support.

Under the strict supervision of the competent public prosecutor, the BRI located and intercepted the vehicle used for transporting the illegal consignment in the Sig region of Mascara province. A thorough search of the vehicle revealed 38.5 kilograms of processed cannabis cleverly concealed within its structural cavities. The driver was immediately apprehended at the scene.

Further investigations quickly led to the identification and subsequent arrest of a second accomplice in Bejaia province, highlighting the extensive reach of the network and the thoroughness of the Algerian authorities' response. Both suspects have since been presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Sig Court, facing charges related to drug trafficking and organized criminal activity.
