President Tebboune Oversees Strategic Hydrocarbon and Infrastructure Development Projects

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a crucial working meeting focused on strategic development projects within Algeria's vital hydrocarbon sector. The discussions also encompassed a significant phosphate fertilizer production complex, alongside an integrated phosphate project aimed at producing ammonia and urea, in addition to phosphate and nitrogen-based fertilizers.

This integrated phosphate project is slated to commence production in the first quarter of 2027. Concurrently, the expansion project for the port of Annaba will be completed, preparing it to handle the initial phosphate exports during the same period.

Further advancing national infrastructure, the meeting reviewed the financing for the ambitious Algiers-Tamanrasset railway line. A decision was made to initiate construction by September at the latest, divided into three major phases: Ouargla-In Salah, In Salah-Tamanrasset, and Tamanrasset-In Salah.

The high-level meeting was attended by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, Minister of State and Inspector General of State Services and Local Authorities Brahim Merad, Minister of State for Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Finance Abdelkrim Bouzred, Governor of the Bank of Algeria Mohammed Lamine Lebbou, and the Chairman and CEO of Sonatrach, Nour Eddine Daoudi.
