Algeria Aims to Become a Leading Iron and Steel Supplier to Europe

Industry and Pharmaceutical Production Minister, Ali Aoun, stated today that Algeria is striving to become one of Europe’s key potential suppliers in the iron and steel sector, leveraging its substantial resources.

During his participation in a meeting dedicated to presenting the “Global Survey” study, Minister Ali Aoun highlighted that Algeria benefits from significant advantages in the iron and steel industry, including skilled labor and a variety of active sectors utilizing iron and steel products.

Minister Aoun elaborated that the new roadmap for the industrial sector would facilitate the emergence of a new national ecosystem centered around iron, steel, and mining. This development is supported by major industrial hubs like the Bellara complex, the El Hadjar complex, and the Turkish company Tosyali’s complex. These hubs are pivotal in enhancing sectors related to recovery, logistics, transformation, and distribution within the industry.

Furthermore, Aoun emphasized that the industrial sector is on the right track to increase its capacity to supply the local industry comprehensively, including the railway and automotive industries as well as the electrical appliance sector. This strategic move is aimed at boosting Algeria’s industrial self-sufficiency and enhancing its export capabilities, positioning the country as a competitive player in the European market.
