Algeria and Congo Explore Expanded Industrial Cooperation and Strategic Partnerships

Algerian Minister of Industry Yahia Bachir held talks on Monday in Algiers with the Republic of Congo’s Minister of International Cooperation and Public-Private Partnership Promotion, Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding industrial partnerships.

The meeting took place during the Congolese minister’s working visit to Algeria from July 20 to 22 at the head of a senior delegation.

Discussions focused on establishing practical and mutually beneficial partnerships in strategic sectors, including construction materials, iron and steel, chemical industries, electronics and mechanical manufacturing. Both sides also examined ways to make better use of the industrial capacities and expertise available in the two countries.

The meeting was attended by the Congolese ambassador to Algeria, senior officials from the Ministry of Industry and representatives of major Algerian industrial groups operating in cement, mechanical industries and electrical equipment.

Bachir said the discussions highlighted the importance of benefiting from Algeria’s experience in developing a diversified industrial base. He stressed the need to strengthen the transfer of expertise and knowledge and increase technical exchanges between Algerian and Congolese companies.

The two ministers also underlined the role of industrial cooperation in supporting African integration and strengthening South-South cooperation.

Sassou Nguesso reaffirmed the strong commitment of both countries to developing concrete projects capable of supporting sustainable economic development and increasing trade between African nations. He also pledged to support initiatives aimed at promoting industrial partnerships that serve the shared interests of Algeria and Congo.

Following the talks, the Congolese minister visited the cement plant in Meftah, Blida Province. The visit enabled the delegation to examine Algeria’s production and technical capabilities, as well as its expertise in manufacturing and industrial management.

The tour also highlighted promising opportunities for cooperation, particularly in supporting industrial projects and transferring Algerian technical experience to Congo.
