President of the Council of the Nation, Azzouz Naceri, has sent a heartfelt message of support to the Algerian national football team as they prepare to face Argentina in their opening match of the World Cup.

In a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter), Naceri expressed pride and encouragement for the team, coinciding with the 44th anniversary of Algeria's legendary 'Gijon feat'. He invoked the spirit of that historic victory against West Germany, where Algerian predecessors made history. "Desert Warriors, as you prepare to enter the World Cup, carrying the hopes of a great nation. We proudly recall the Gijon feat, when your ancestors made history by defeating West Germany. Affirming that the Algerian will is capable of creating miracles," Naceri wrote.
The President of the Council of the Nation wished the national team the best of luck in raising Algeria's flag high and writing a new chapter of glory.
