Algeria Secures Africa’s First Skechers Footwear Manufacturing Plant

Algeria is set to become a major hub for footwear manufacturing in Africa with the establishment of the continent's first Skechers production facility. The landmark agreement was overseen by the Minister of Trade, Export Promotion, and International Trade, Kamel Rezig, formalizing a partnership between the global American footwear giant, Skechers, and the Algerian company Tradifoot.

This pioneering factory is slated to commence operations in the first quarter of 2027, boasting an impressive annual production capacity of two million pairs of shoes. The signing ceremony followed a productive meeting between Minister Rezig and a delegation from Skechers, which included Douglas Parker, Vice President of Finance, and Daniel Levy, Vice President of International Sales. Officials from the Algerian partner, Tradifoot, were also in attendance.

This strategic investment underscores Algeria's growing appeal as a destination for international manufacturing and highlights the country's commitment to bolstering its industrial sector and export capabilities. The new facility is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth within the region.
