Heatwave Alert Issued Across Several Algerian Provinces

Algeria’s National Meteorological Office has issued a heatwave alert for several provinces across the country, warning that very high temperatures are expected on Saturday and Sunday.

According to a level-two weather alert, temperatures are forecast to range between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius, with peaks that could reach 46 degrees in some areas. The warning is valid from Saturday until Sunday.

The provinces concerned by this alert include Sidi Bel Abbès, Saïda, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Aïn Defla, Chlef, Relizane and Mascara. These areas are expected to experience particularly intense heat during the warning period.

In a separate alert, the National Meteorological Office also warned of high temperatures ranging between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius in several other provinces. These include Médéa, Djelfa, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, M’sila, Mila, Constantine, Guelma and Batna.

The weather warning comes as many regions of Algeria continue to experience very hot summer conditions. Such temperatures can affect daily activities and may increase health risks, especially for children, elderly people and those with chronic health conditions.

Authorities usually advise citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day, drink enough water and take precautions when traveling or working outdoors.

The heatwave is also likely to place additional pressure on electricity consumption, particularly due to the increased use of air conditioning and cooling systems.

The National Meteorological Office continues to monitor weather developments and may update its warnings depending on changes in temperature levels and affected areas.

Citizens in the concerned provinces are encouraged to follow official weather bulletins and take the necessary precautions until the end of the alert period.
