President Tebboune Visits Survivors of Tragic Fire Immediately After Returning from Germany

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune travelled directly to the Specialized Hospital for Severe Burns in Zéralda, west of Algiers, on Thursday afternoon, shortly after returning to Algeria from an official visit to Germany.
The President visited the hospital to personally check on the health of those injured in the tragic fire that broke out at a care institution for assisted children in Mohammadia. His immediate decision to head to the hospital upon his arrival reflects the Algerian state’s strong commitment to standing beside citizens during painful and difficult moments.
During the visit, President Tebboune received detailed explanations from the medical team responsible for treating the injured. Doctors briefed him on the patients’ conditions, the medical care being provided and the efforts made to ensure that every injured person receives appropriate treatment and close monitoring.
The Algerian President also spoke directly with several survivors of the fire. He listened to their accounts and expressed his support and solidarity, while reassuring them that the state would continue to provide all necessary medical and psychological assistance.
President Tebboune was accompanied by Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Army, General Saïd Chengriha; Minister of Health Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudene; Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs Soraya Mouloudji; and Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Boughlef.
The presence of senior state officials alongside the President demonstrates the government’s coordinated response to the tragedy. It also highlights the importance placed on the mobilisation of healthcare services, Civil Protection units and national solidarity institutions in managing the consequences of the incident.
The visit sends a clear message that the Algerian leadership remains closely engaged with the concerns of the population, particularly in times of crisis. By going directly to the hospital, President Tebboune once again showed that protecting citizens and supporting vulnerable groups remain central priorities of the Algerian government.
Authorities are continuing to follow the condition of the injured closely, while specialised medical teams are working to provide them with the best possible care.
