Algerian Government Pledges Full Support for Wildfire Victims and Compensation for Losses
The Algerian government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting citizens affected by the recent wildfires, pledging to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the damage and compensate those who suffered losses.
The announcement was made by Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport Saïd Sayoud during his visit to the wildfire-hit province of Annaba, where he inspected the ongoing emergency response and met with local officials overseeing relief operations. (aps.dz)
Speaking to the press, Sayoud stressed that the Algerian state would stand by all citizens impacted by the fires. He said the authorities would undertake a detailed inventory of all human, material and agricultural losses to ensure that those affected receive appropriate compensation in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.
The minister emphasized that protecting citizens remains the government’s foremost priority, noting that emergency services, Civil Protection units, the People’s National Army, forestry services and local authorities have been fully mobilized to contain the fires, evacuate residents when necessary and safeguard lives and property.
He added that specialized committees would begin assessing the extent of the damage once the emergency phase concludes and the affected areas become fully accessible. The findings will serve as the basis for compensation measures and recovery efforts.
Sayoud also praised the rapid intervention and coordination among the various state institutions, highlighting their role in limiting the spread of the fires and reducing their impact on nearby communities.
The minister reaffirmed that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune is closely monitoring developments and has instructed all concerned authorities to provide every necessary means to assist affected families and accelerate relief operations.
The government’s commitment reflects Algeria’s determination to support disaster-affected communities, restore damaged areas and ensure that citizens receive the assistance needed to recover from the consequences of the wildfires. (aps.dz)
