Algeria’s Ministry of the Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-Enterprises has officially opened applications for the first edition of the President of the Republic’s Award for Best Startup, a new national competition designed to recognize and support the country’s most innovative entrepreneurial ventures.
According to a ministry statement issued on Friday, applications will be accepted from July 24 to August 23, 2026. The competition is open to innovative project owners, outstanding startups and high-potential scale-ups seeking national recognition for their achievements.
Entries will be evaluated by an independent jury composed of technology and innovation experts from Algeria and abroad. The panel will assess candidates based on innovation, growth potential, impact and overall business excellence.
The competition features three award categories with significant financial prizes:
- Best Scale-up (Scale-up Label): 3 million Algerian dinars (300 million centimes)
- Best Startup (Startup Label): 2 million Algerian dinars (200 million centimes)
- Best Innovative Project (Innovative Project Label): 1 million Algerian dinars (100 million centimes)
The ministry said the initiative aims to encourage innovation, strengthen Algeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and support the development of high-value businesses capable of contributing to economic diversification and job creation.
Applications must be submitted exclusively online through the official digital platform, which provides detailed information on eligibility requirements, evaluation criteria and the application process.
The award forms part of Algeria’s broader strategy to promote innovation and position startups as key drivers of the country’s knowledge-based economy.
