Algeria Plans Integrated Export Logistics Platforms to Boost Non-Hydrocarbon Trade

Algeria is moving forward with plans to strengthen its export infrastructure as part of a broader strategy to diversify the economy and increase non-hydrocarbon exports, Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig announced.

According to a ministry statement, Rezig chaired a high-level working meeting dedicated to examining a project for the creation of integrated export logistics platforms. The meeting brought together representatives from several government departments, public institutions involved in export operations, business organizations and employers’ associations.

The discussions focused on developing a practical framework for establishing modern logistics hubs capable of improving the full range of services provided to exporters. The proposed platforms are expected to facilitate the shipping, storage and handling of goods destined for international markets, helping Algerian companies reduce costs, improve efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of their products abroad.

Addressing participants, Rezig stressed that developing export logistics infrastructure is a key pillar of Algeria’s national strategy to expand exports beyond the hydrocarbons sector. He emphasized the importance of closer coordination between all stakeholders and called for a collaborative approach to ensure the project’s successful implementation.

The minister said the logistics platforms should be developed according to international standards while responding to the needs of economic operators. He added that the initiative is intended to open new opportunities for Algerian exporters and support the country’s efforts to diversify export markets and strengthen its presence in global trade.

The project forms part of Algeria’s wider economic reforms aimed at encouraging production, improving trade competitiveness and reducing dependence on oil and gas revenues.
