Algeria Condemns Drone Attack on Two Ships at Egypt’s Damietta Port

Algeria has strongly condemned a drone attack targeting two ships at Egypt’s Damietta Port, describing the incident as a serious assault on the sovereignty of a fellow Arab country and a threat to its security and stability.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two vessels were targeted by a drone on July 29, 2026.

“Algeria strongly condemns and denounces the targeting of two ships at Damietta Port in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt by a drone,” the ministry said.

The statement described the attack as a “heinous act” and warned that it represented a dangerous attempt to expand the scope of the ongoing regional conflict in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East.

Algeria expressed its full solidarity with Egypt following the incident and reaffirmed its support for the measures adopted by the Egyptian authorities to protect the country’s interests, national security, and stability.

The Algerian position reflects its rejection of attacks targeting the sovereignty and vital infrastructure of Arab states. It also highlights growing concerns over the risk that ongoing regional tensions could spread to additional countries and strategic maritime facilities.
