Veterans and Families of Martyrs Praise President Tebboune’s Recognition on National Army Day
Retired members of the People’s National Army (ANP), veterans of the National Liberation Army, families of fallen soldiers, and injured servicemen honored for their role in combating terrorism expressed their deep appreciation on Tuesday for the care and recognition shown by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Their remarks came on the sidelines of a tribute ceremony chaired by the President at the National Army Club in Beni Messous, Algiers, in the presence of senior state officials, government members, national figures, and media representatives, as part of celebrations marking National Army Day, observed annually on August 4.
In statements to the Algerian Press Service, participants praised what they described as a culture of gratitude and respect demonstrated by the President toward those who sacrificed for the nation, whether during the War of Independence or in defending Algeria during the years of terrorism. They also reaffirmed their support for his vision of building a strong and modern state in line with the legacy of the revolution’s martyrs.
Veteran Colonel Bessas Mohamed expressed his sincere thanks to President Tebboune and Army Chief of Staff General Saïd Chengriha for their continued attention to former fighters and the families of martyrs and wounded servicemen. He noted that the President’s annual presence at the ceremony reflects genuine respect for those who fulfilled their duty with courage and dedication.
Other veterans, including Hamdan Bouaissi and senior war-injured Abdelhadi Menin, highlighted the progress achieved by Algeria and called on younger generations to rally behind national efforts to preserve unity and stability.
Participants also praised the professionalism and readiness of the ANP, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining the values of the liberation struggle to safeguard the country’s future.
