Algeria Hosts 14th Summer University for Sahrawi Cadres
Algeria is hosting the 14th edition of the Summer University for Sahrawi cadres in Boumerdes province, a ten-day program that underscores the theme "Self-determination and independence, a fixed and inalienable right." This annual gathering, named this year in honor of "Martyr Ahmed Al-Bilal Hadda," serves as a crucial platform to highlight various dimensions of the Sahrawi cause and the Sahrawi people's unwavering commitment to their rights. The university consistently emphasizes adherence to international legitimacy and the universal right of peoples to self-determination, principles steadfastly supported by Algeria.
On the eve of the university's launch, Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria, Khatri Addou, affirmed the profound importance of this annual solidarity event. Ambassador Addou reiterated the Sahrawi people's firm dedication to their fundamental rights to freedom and independence, asserting that any attempts to bypass these rights or international resolutions on self-determination would be rejected. The program is designed to illuminate political, humanitarian, and legal developments pertinent to the Sahrawi issue, acting as a vital forum for training, discussion, and the exchange of ideas and experiences. This initiative further strengthens the bonds of fraternal support and solidarity between the Sahrawi and Algerian peoples.
Throughout its sessions, the university will facilitate discussions with various Algerian media outlets, focusing on the political, humanitarian, and regional aspects of the Sahrawi cause. Key topics include the human rights situation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, the exploitation of Sahrawi natural resources, and the broader social, economic, and political challenges in the region. Marking five decades of Sahrawi steadfastness and resistance, the university also provides an opportunity to evaluate the Sahrawi people's extensive political and institutional achievements, while addressing new challenges and leveraging current international and regional transformations.
