Solidarity Ministry Aids Jijel Wildfire-Affected Children

The Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women's Issues has initiated a psychological support program targeting children affected by recent wildfires in Jijel province. More than 55 children residing at the shelter center within the Vocational Training Center in Echakfa municipality have already benefited from the third session of this vital intervention. The program focuses on support sessions and psychotherapeutic activities designed to aid their psychological rehabilitation in preparation for the upcoming school year.

Beyond the immediate care in Echakfa, neighborhood solidarity cells from Skikda province, specifically from the Oued Zhour and Chraia regions, have extended their support. These cells have been providing psychological assistance and listening sessions for families and affected individuals at the shelter center in Djemaa Beni Habibi municipality and Taleb Abdel Karim Primary School for three consecutive days. This integrated approach highlights inter-provincial cooperation in disaster response.

This fieldwork aligns with the Ministry's comprehensive strategy for social care, aiming to provide full social support to affected families. A central focus is on ensuring the psychological stability of children, facilitating their return to school under suitable conditions, and helping them overcome the repercussions of these exceptional circumstances. Such neighborhood initiatives underscore the critical importance of the psychological and social dimensions in post-disaster management, with early psychological care for children being key to restoring their emotional balance and smooth integration into their educational and family environments.
