Air Algérie Capacity Grows 13.3%, Enters African Top Five

Air Algérie has secured the fifth position among African airlines based on scheduled seat capacity for September 2026. Data from OAG, an organization specializing in air transport analysis, indicates that the national carrier offered 756,627 seats during the month.
This figure represents a notable increase of 13.3% compared to September 2025, when 667,810 seats were programmed, amounting to an additional 88,817 seats over the year. Air Algérie's ranking places it behind Ethiopian Airlines, Safair, Egyptair, and Royal Air Maroc in the top five.
The September performance aligns with a consistent growth trajectory for Air Algérie, which also demonstrated significant progression during the summer months. In August 2026, the airline recorded the highest capacity increase among the top ten African carriers, programming 825,900 seats. This marked a 16.8% rise from the 706,900 seats offered in August 2025, adding 119,000 seats. This sustained positive trend underscores Air Algérie's expanding operational footprint.
