State Launches Plan to Restore Wildfire-Hit Vital Networks

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has issued directives establishing clear priorities and specific deadlines for a comprehensive state-led reconstruction plan. This initiative focuses on the urgent restoration of vital networks in regions impacted by recent wildfires, aiming to ensure a rapid and effective governmental response to the disaster.
In direct implementation of these presidential directives issued during a meeting on August 30, Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Gelaoui, convened a working meeting. This gathering addressed the urgent measures required for road networks and infrastructure damaged by the fires across several wilayas, including Jijel. The discussion identified priority interventions designed to swiftly return the situation to its previous state.
The decided measures include accelerating the rehabilitation and repair of affected road infrastructure, mobilizing all capabilities of the sector's institutions, and reinforcing efforts with resources from the Public Works Directorates of Constantine, Setif, and neighboring wilayas. The objective is to enhance intervention capacities and expedite the pace of work, with completion targeted for the beginning of next week. Additionally, the plan encompasses reinforcing damaged slopes to restore stability, alongside the reinstallation and renewal of horizontal and vertical road signs to ensure clear routes and improve safety for road users. Central ministry officials will also be dispatched to the field to support intervention teams and oversee operations, strengthening coordination among all stakeholders.
