Prime Minister Ghraib Oversees Wildfire Recovery Plan Implementation

Prime Minister Seifi Ghraib recently presided over a remote meeting focused on reviewing the progress of the emergency plan designed to address the aftermath of recent wildfires. The meeting aimed to oversee the restoration of various public services and facilitate the return of affected citizens to their daily lives under optimal conditions. This initiative aligns directly with directives issued by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, following a preceding meeting dedicated to mitigating the effects of fires in several central and eastern provinces. During the session, attendees observed a moment of silence for those who perished, recalling the President's decisions and the mechanisms established for their swift implementation on the ground.

Discussions during the meeting encompassed a presentation of ongoing measures across various sectors, specifically highlighting efforts to eliminate the material impacts left by the fires. These include the rehabilitation of vital networks to ensure the continuous supply of water, electricity, gas, and communication services to residents in affected areas. Progress on the comprehensive enumeration and evaluation of all types of losses was also reviewed, covering homes, furniture, electrical appliances, crops, fruit trees, beehives, and livestock. A crucial outcome announced was that compensation for all affected individuals, regardless of the extent of damage, is scheduled to commence next week and will be fully completed before September 15. The Prime Minister emphasized that every item destroyed by the fires, even the simplest, would be compensated.

The Prime Minister also received reports from the governors regarding the on-the-ground implementation of these measures. He underscored the importance of responding to citizens' concerns with flexibility and effectiveness, prioritizing fieldwork and direct engagement with affected communities, while actively avoiding bureaucratic delays, particularly concerning the reconstruction of administrative documents lost in the fires. Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Ghraib reiterated the unwavering commitment of the state and its institutions, both centrally and locally, to supporting affected citizens. He affirmed that all efforts would be mobilized to repair damages and restore normalcy within the established timelines, in adherence to the President's directives.
