Morocco’s regime continues its betrayal of the Palestinian cause, increasingly deepening its ties with the Israeli state. Recent reports from Hebrew media revealed that ten Moroccan military aircraft have landed in Tel Aviv.
The Hebrew site “Kol HaHadashot” published a photo showing the moment of the Moroccan military aircraft’s arrival in Tel Aviv. This blatant collusion by the Moroccan regime with the Israeli occupation in its brutal aggression against Palestinian lands is now evident.
Morocco’s involvement in the genocide against the Palestinian people doesn’t stop there. It has exceeded all bounds by allowing an Israeli military ship to dock at its ports for refueling and resupply before heading to the occupied Palestinian territories.
An Israeli ship, “INS Komemiyut,” a military vessel of the Israeli navy, has been docked at the port of Tangier since June 6, 2024, for refueling and resupplying, before continuing its journey to the port of Haifa.
This blatant collusion with the Israeli state by the Moroccan regime signifies its participation in the genocide against the Palestinian people. This action has sparked widespread criticism from anti-normalization activists in Morocco, who have described this move as a “stain on Morocco’s history and an encouragement of aggression against our brothers in Palestine.”
The decision by Morocco has shocked the Palestinian people and anti-normalization advocates within Morocco, especially amidst the ongoing brutal attacks by the Israeli occupation on Gaza, which have lasted for over 260 days, resulting in more than 37,000 martyrs and significant destruction of the besieged sector’s infrastructure.
The Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Against Normalization stated that “the authorities did not stop, inspect, or seize the ship or its crew, or prevent it from docking, unlike the Spanish government, which prevented the ship ‘Marian Danica,’ following the same route as ‘Fortum Audite,’ loaded with tons of explosive materials, from docking at Cartagena port on May 21. Furthermore, port workers in several countries have refused to load such ships or obstruct their departure.”
The National Secretariat of the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Against Normalization condemned in a statement “the Moroccan authorities’ handling of this serious issue,” considering “that turning a blind eye to the passage of such ships not only violates the International Court of Justice’s ruling following South Africa’s lawsuit against the Israeli state but also encourages the Israeli enemy and participates in the genocide of the Palestinian people, while undermining our national sovereignty, which is already compromised.”
Mohamed Riahi, a member of the Central Office of the Moroccan Association for Supporting the Nation’s Causes, considered the docking of an Israeli ship in Tangier as “an affront to the will of the Moroccan people, who reject all forms of normalization with the criminal Israeli state, and a further entanglement of the Moroccan state in supporting Israel’s blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a betrayal of the innocent blood in Gaza and all of Palestine.”
Riahi stated, “We, in the Moroccan Association, condemn this heinous, unjustified, and incomprehensible crime by all human, national, legal, political, and Islamic standards. We disavow this treason and scandal, which will remain a stain in the record of the normalizers.”
