Ouikene, Redouane Lead Algerian Mediterranean Games Medal Haul

Algerian athletes have achieved significant success at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, securing a notable collection of gold and silver medals. Among the distinguished performers, Cylia Ouikene earned a gold medal in karate-do, while Driss Messaoud Redouane triumphed with a gold in judo. Additionally, Kylia Nemour showcased exceptional talent by claiming a gold medal in artistic gymnastics, contributing to the nation's strong showing.
Cylia Ouikene, in particular, successfully defended her Mediterranean title, winning gold in the 50kg kumite category. She notably defeated Italy's Erminia Perfetto with a score of 9-3 in the final match. Her journey to the gold included a close victory over Egypt's Reem Salama in the preceding round, marking her second Mediterranean title after her win in Oran in 2022.
Further solidifying Algeria's medal tally, Anis Chott secured a silver medal in the 1500m race. These athletic achievements highlight the dedication and skill of Algerian competitors on the international stage, adding to the country's prestige in multi-sport events.
