dzwatch

Since July 5, the Ministry of Interior has initiated the phase of generalizing the issuance of biometric driving licenses across all municipalities in the country.

The ministry’s statement indicated that this process follows its initial restriction to municipalities of the provincial capitals since 2019, and subsequently to the municipalities of district centers since December 2023.

According to the statement, all municipalities nationwide will now handle the issuance of biometric driving licenses in accordance with the prevailing legal requirements. This applies to new applicants for driving licenses, requests to renew expired conventional driving licenses, as well as adding new categories to existing licenses.

The ministry also affirmed that conventional driving licenses will remain valid until their expiration date.

It is worth noting that, to date, over four and a half million biometric driving licenses have been issued.
