Niamey Welcomes Four Algerian Su-30 Fighter Jets

Algeria has deployed four Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets to Niger, with the aircraft landing at Niamey airport on August 30. The deployment included an escort by an Il-76 military transport aircraft and an Il-78 tanker aircraft, demonstrating comprehensive logistical support for the operation.

A reception ceremony for the military air fleet was attended by several high-ranking Nigerien dignitaries, including Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, Defense Minister Salifou Mody, and Chief of Staff Moussa Salaou Barmou. The National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) of Niger confirmed the arrival in a statement, highlighting the significance of this strategic support.

The Algerian Ministry of Defense highlighted that the delivery of these aircraft was carried out under the direct instruction of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. This initiative followed a specific request from Nigerien authorities, prompted by a recent attempted mutiny at Air Base 101 in Niamey, underscoring Algeria's commitment to regional stability and security in the Sahel.
