Sayoud Chairs Meeting on Social Re-entry and Fire Compensation
Minister of Interior, Local Collectivities, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, recently chaired a crucial coordination meeting at the Government Palace via video conference. Held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the session brought together the Minister Delegate for Local Collectivities, Fawzia Naama, along with governors of the Republic and central administration officials. The meeting focused on several priority files, including the preparations for the social re-entry covering school, university, and vocational training, the ongoing process of compensating victims of forest fires, and proactive measures for the upcoming autumn season, in addition to addressing various local concerns across the wilayas.
Regarding the social re-entry, Minister Sayoud underscored the imperative of ensuring a successful return under optimal conditions. He specifically directed that school meals and transport be guaranteed from the very first day, emphasizing the completion of all organizational and logistical arrangements. Furthermore, instructions were given to intensify cleaning and preparation operations around educational, university, and vocational training institutions, coupled with waste removal and the elimination of any identified problem areas.
In addressing the compensation for forest fire victims, the Minister commended the diligent efforts of the governors and local authorities. He stressed the necessity of continued mobilization until the full completion of the compensation process and the erasure of fire impacts. Directives included the submission of final reports concerning census operations and appeals to the National Delegation for Major Risks by Saturday, September 12, 2026. This also encompassed ongoing cleaning, rehabilitation of affected areas, debris removal, painting work, and overall environmental restoration. For the autumn season, Minister Sayoud called for heightened vigilance and readiness, implementing preventive measures such as purifying rainwater drainage networks, inspecting and treating problematic areas, updating intervention plans, and ensuring the operational readiness and allocation of necessary human and material resources.
The meeting also served as a platform for Minister Sayoud to hear presentations and interventions from the governors regarding the progress of social re-entry preparations, fire victim compensation, and autumn readiness, as well as various local files and ongoing projects. He issued comprehensive directives, emphasizing the urgent need to expedite file processing, strengthen field follow-up, and effectively respond to the concerns of citizens across all regions.
