Sonatrach CEO Holds Fruitful Energy Talks with US Advisor
Massad Boulos, the United States Senior Advisor for Middle East and African Affairs, concluded a visit to Algeria where he held high-level discussions focusing on energy and security cooperation. During his visit, Boulos met with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to discuss bilateral relations as well as challenges and opportunities pertinent to the Sahel region and the broader African continent. These engagements underscore the deepening diplomatic and strategic partnership between the two nations across various crucial sectors.
A significant aspect of Boulos's visit included a meeting with Sonatrach CEO Nour Eddine Daoudi. Following their discussion, Boulos stated on X that the encounter was "very fruitful," noting that talks addressed the strong existing energy relationship between Algeria and the United States, alongside exploring new avenues for future collaboration. The American official conveyed Washington's anticipation of building upon these discussions and continuing to develop bilateral relations, particularly within the energy sector, highlighting a shared commitment to enhancing prosperity.
Beyond energy, the discussions encompassed a broader agenda of shared interests. Boulos also met with Prime Minister Seifi Gherib and Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, where conversations focused on regional security, economic cooperation, and further strengthening trade relations between Algeria and the United States. This visit marked Boulos's third to Algeria, with previous trips occurring in July 2025 and January 2026, signaling sustained high-level engagement. The U.S. Embassy has previously affirmed that the expanding partnership, particularly in energy, is poised to contribute to shared prosperity, reiterating Washington's commitment to working collaboratively with its Algerian partners.
