ANIE President, Interior Minister Discuss 2026 Local Elections

The President of the National Independent Electoral Authority (ANIE), Saïd Arouss, convened with the Minister of Interior, Local Collectivities, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, at the ANIE headquarters. This meeting centered on the comprehensive preparations for the election of members of the municipal and provincial popular assemblies, which are slated to take place on November 28, 2026.

The discussions underscored the ongoing coordination between ANIE and the services of the Ministry of Interior, Local Collectivities, and Transport. A primary focus of this engagement was the material and logistical readiness essential for the electoral process, in line with the provisions of the amended Article 07 of Ordinance No. 21-01 concerning the electoral system.

The significant meeting was also attended by members of the ANIE council and its officials, alongside various officials from the Ministry of Interior, Local Collectivities, and Transport. This collaborative gathering marks a concrete step in ensuring the smooth conduct and robust organization of the upcoming local elections, reflecting Algeria's commitment to its democratic practices.
