Egypt, Algeria Enhance Coordination on Key Regional Issues

Ministers of Foreign Affairs from Egypt, Badr Abdel Atty, and Algeria, Ahmed Attaf, recently held a phone call to discuss bilateral relations and regional matters. During their conversation, the two sides agreed to support the ongoing political settlement process in Libya while emphasizing the importance of preserving the country's unity and sovereignty. This coordination underscores a shared commitment to fostering security and stability across the region.

The phone call also addressed a range of other critical regional developments. Discussions included the Palestinian issue, the prevailing situations in Sudan, and the challenges within the African Sahel region. Both ministers reiterated the significance of continuous coordination, particularly within the framework of the tripartite neighboring countries mechanism concerning Libya. They further affirmed their dedication to building upon the existing momentum in Egyptian-Algerian relations, with plans to follow up on the outcomes of the ninth session of their Joint High Committee.

Beyond specific regional files, the ministers exchanged views on broader regional developments and their implications for Arab national security. They stressed the collective need to enhance understanding and coordination among Arab nations to effectively confront shared challenges and safeguard the region's overall security and stability. Additionally, both Algeria and Egypt expressed a strong desire to broaden the scope of their cooperation, particularly in economic, trade, and investment sectors, aiming to open new avenues for a more robust and mutually beneficial partnership.
