National People’s Army Arrests Terrorist Supporters, Seizes Contraband

Between September 9 and 15, 2026, units of the National People's Army (ANP) apprehended three individuals suspected of supporting terrorist groups in various distinct operations across Algerian national territory. These actions are part of the ANP's sustained efforts in counter-terrorism, reflecting the high professionalism, vigilance, and constant readiness of the Armed Forces throughout the country.

In ongoing operations against organized crime, ANP detachments, in coordination with various security services, intercepted 38 drug traffickers. These efforts successfully thwarted attempts to introduce 2 quintals and 13 kilograms of treated kif originating from the Moroccan borders. Additionally, 3.18 kilograms of cocaine and 390,100 psychotropic tablets were seized during operations conducted across several Military Regions.

Further actions targeted smuggling and other forms of organized crime. In areas including Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Salah, and Illizi, ANP detachments arrested 295 individuals. These operations also led to the seizure of 30 vehicles, 293 power generators, 185 jackhammers, along with quantities of raw gold mixture, stones, and equipment used in illegal gold panning activities. Separate operations resulted in the apprehension of 12 other individuals and the seizure of 7 Kalashnikov-type submachine guns, 8 hunting rifles, 7,380 liters of fuel, 7 quintals of tobacco, and 8.4 tons of foodstuffs intended for smuggling.

Complementing these land-based efforts, Coast Guard units successfully thwarted illegal immigration attempts along the national coastlines. They rescued 262 individuals aboard makeshift boats and arrested 418 illegal immigrants of various nationalities across the national territory, further underscoring the comprehensive security approach taken by Algerian forces.
